Karena Brown is the lower school guidance counselor at International High School at Prospect Heights.
She loves studying photography and psychology, and wants to learn more about people’s behavior and motivations. If she were a teacher, she would teach these subjects because she loves them and knows that students love them too.
Question 1: What do you think about the electives program?
Ms. Karena: I love the elective program because I think it gives students a choice of what classes they want to take. So it gives them more opportunity to take something they like, rather than the regular subjects. And maybe motivate them a little bit more to be in school.
Question 2: If you were a student, what elective would you take?
Ms. Karena: I would love to take photography with Ms. Margot because I love taking pictures. And I love Ms. Margot. She is really artistic, and I love everything she does with the classes.
