In fall 2025, students at International High School at Prospect Heights had the opportunity to choose an elective class to explore their interests, enjoy their time, and connect with students they did not previously know.
For the first semester, in volleyball, I learned a lot about how to play the game, like working as a team and improving my skills. I also met new people and had fun with them during class. This is important because school is not only about learning, but also about connecting with others and building relationships.
Another example, in the newspaper class, I learned a lot and had a really good experience. We did several interviews with senior students. We also interviewed the principal, Suzannah Taylor, to learn about her perspective on electives and what the process is when students want to change their elective.
Through this experience, I learned how to prepare and ask professional questions, listen carefully, and take notes. This is important because it helps us communicate better and builds skills we can use in the future.
